Here’s To…

Here’s to another year of self-reflection,

To the moment in which I find connection.

Here’s to the sorrow that I’ve felt,

My darkness, and my strongest cards dealt.

Here’s to the hatred that kept me untorn,

An emotion that I dare not scorn.

Here’s to the happiness I’ve gained,

The little amounts that healed the pain.

Here’s to the solace in which I’ve been chasing,

The acceptance that is finally embracing.

Here’s to the family that has been wise,

Shielding me with facts, beliefs, and lies.

Here’s to the love that has been regrowing,

Could she be it? Or am I just snoring?

Here’s to the hope that supposedly exists,

Giving  me another year to live with bliss.

Here’s to another year of self-reflection,

And to the moment in which I make connection.

Happy birthday to me,

There is still much to see,

I know not what will be,

but enlightenment will be key…

Happy birthday to me.
